A vibrant display of culture and tradition marked the 2026 Sallah Festival Fiesta in Katsina, attended by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda alongside traditional rulers, government officials, and international guests.

The event drew participation from 50 district heads across the Katsina Emirate, as well as hundreds of attendees including horsemen, artisans, and a delegation of 17 diplomats led by Pieter Leenknegt.

Held at Kofar Soro, the festival featured a colourful procession of horsemen riding through the streets to the sounds of traditional kalangu and algaita drums. The Emir of Katsina, Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, received guests ahead of the Hawan Bariki celebrations.

Spectators, including residents and visitors, gathered to witness the parade, which showcased the Emirate’s rich cultural heritage and ceremonial pageantry.

Governor Radda, in the company of senior government officials, district heads, and foreign diplomats, observed the procession of royal contingents, underscoring the state government’s commitment to preserving cultural traditions while advancing tourism and investment opportunities.

The festival also highlighted preparatory and behind-the-scenes efforts, including artisans producing traditional regalia, youth engagement in horsemanship, and coordinated community security measures to ensure a peaceful celebration.

The event reflects Katsina State’s ongoing efforts to promote cultural heritage, strengthen global partnerships, and support community development initiatives.
